Antique 101

Chosen for its detail and quality, this antique chest of drawers incorporates old style furniture in todays design. I love the floral design around this piece. Sometimes certain pieces do not find an even balance between their design and overall piece but his chest of drawers finds that balance. Antique furniture never goes out of style.

Elegant Hall

Chosen for its detail, form, texture, and overall look, this hallway incorporates a lot of European architecture. If you look at the ceiling, the molding has a lot of detail which is carried throughout the room. From the table, chandelier, mirrors, pots, and staircase, such detail is in every aspect of this room. Taken from North Carolina Classic Design, this room is a great example of classic design.

Glass countered sink

Bathroom sinks are common household products that we use everyday. t is for this reason I found a bathroom sink that does not look like your average sink. Experimenting with reflection and materials, this sink has a glass counter with a steel faucet. This sink would be a beautiful accent in any bathroom.

Red Earthtones

A room chosen for its color and pattern, this room takes the very bold red and uses it in almost every aspect of this room without using too much of the color. Mixed with other neutrals such as white, tan, and gray, this room does not overpower you with red. Instead, it shows you how to use the different shades of a color in one space. My favorite aspect of this room is the contrast between the bed and wallpaper. The contrast in colors and shapes makes for an interesting mix. Even though very different, these two combinations are not a distraction in the room.

Bedroom Sweet

Taken from Home Beautiful October 2007 Issue, this room was chosen because of its use of pattern and texture. With neutrals as the over all color scheme or the room, this interior incorporates florals, textures, and circles. The wallpaper is the floral, the bed frame and blanket the texture, and the chair at the foot of the bed has oval designs. This combination of pattern and texture was done in a very subtle way where one did not overpower the other to create a very "sweet" bedroom.

Dining Room

Chosen for its texture, this room combines nature with European style. European style has been characterized as "crusty and old." Keeping those two words in mind, the mirrors bring in that crusty and old feel. The ceiling and table made of wood bring nature into the room. I also chose this room because of its color scheme. This room shows earth tones done right. When you normally see rooms with a lot of earth tones, they tend to be boring. But this combination of earth tones creates a romantic feel while adding to the crusty and old European style.

More Shadows...I need the practice

This assignment is taken from page 49. Exercises 2.1-2.3. I think this went better than my first shading assignment but i still could use a lot of work.
