The objective of this design is to create a fresh and innovative approach to the traditional dining room. The concept behind my design was structure, material, and color. These three elements have combined to create a fresh and funky dining room that still holds true to some of its traditional elements.
Inspired by the arrangement of restaurants and such modern designers as Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, the idea of structural individual togetherness can be seen in the design of the table and color scheme of the room. Incorporating the individual tables of restaurants and materials of the modern era, the table is broken into three individual tables while being joined together by a long metal strip to create the illusion of one long table.
The combinations of materials and colors join together to create a funky yet inviting dining room area. The use of metal with the mix of houndstooth curtains and a splash of blue chairs makes for a fresh innovative environment. While such furniture pieces as the dining table and side table provide a small sense of tradition by keeping such standard pieces in the room.

Panton Chair
Verner Panton's cantilevered stacking chair (1960) was the first single-material and single-form chair to be made and has been produced by Vitra through three decades of development in plastics technology. This version consists of a single piece of strong, flexible polypropylene with integral color that will not fade over time. As striking as modern sculpture, this classic piece is appropriately durable and easy to clean in cafés or restaurants, and is comfortable enough to use as an occasional chair in an office or residence.
