The ARt of CoMpoSition

On Tuesday Suzanne taught us about the importance of composition...composition is not only important because it deals with how things are arranged on a page but it tells a story...composition guides the readers eye and can be a big reason if the reader understands what you are trying to convey.

the assignment was the create a two page composition answering the question what makes studio, studio? when i went to do the assignment i wanted to capture the essence of my first year studio so far...so what i did was get pictures from iarc blog and the iarc main page and incorporated them in my two page composition...

WHITE ON BLACK SELF PORTRAIT

the assignment was to draw ourselves by looking in a mirror...the interesting part about this assignment was that we were drawing white on black instead of black on white paper. even though the picture came out to look like a person i dont think that it looks like me...but overall i think it came out good. tell me what you thinks

Design Research 1-3

I found it very fun to look through different magazines for products and artifacts...These products came out of the September 2007 issue of House Beautiful.

1. I chose this piece for one because of its beauty and simplicity. The little bit of color that is used accents the draws so that the color is not distracting or detracting from the piece. I would love to have a set of drawers in my house that looked like this. Simply, beautiful, with a hint of traditional style.

2. I chose this chandelier because of its rustic feel. Besides being very beautiful the flowers and rustic texture give it an antique feel.

3. You will probably never guess what this is...Post It Stickies!!! I chose it because when looking at it you do not know what it is. When i read the caption...i said I love it. Post It Stickies are office necessities that can add a sense of style and flair to any office if displayed in a fun way.

Pencil Box 101

our second project was to design a place or box for pencils...suzanne showed us some different types of boxes and i was inspired...she showed a box that stacked on top of each other and i thought what if i did a stacked pencil holder...the interesting part about my project is that the pencil holder is detachable...you can move it to different parts of the desk

in this photo i moved the pencil holding container in the middle of the pencil box...notice its location on the other pictures and how it differs in this one..

i thought this project went a lot better than the egg project...leave your comments letting me know what you think..

pRof1lin pt.2

We had to do more profile pics...so i drew my girls candace and christine...those that saw the pictures said that they look like them...leave your comments and tell me what you think about the pictures...

Pr0F1LiN

the assignment was to draw profiles...i found that i was successful on one and failed at the other...partly because i used different techniques on each one...on the first one i used a combination of perspective and the triangle technique and i think that it turned out very well...but after being told that i did not do it correctly i stuck with the technique done in class and it turned out terrible... so tell me what you think

Egg Models..My First Project

The assignment was to construct a place that celebrates a quality of an egg. I thought to celebrate its shape...but I don't think I was successful. The response that I got from other members in the class during our final critique made me feel like this was not a successful project. But because we had to load images of our projects online...please be nice...I already do not like my project.

contour modeling

the assignment was to draw contour drawings of people and the surrounding environment. so here it goes.

this was my first one...i found that when drawing this the people kept moving...so i decided to draw light lines which worked okay but it turned out with some short sketchy lines instead of straight flowing lines.

I tried the same approach with picture one but tried not to use sketchy lines.

With this one I had a little more time than the first two because the people did not move or leave the scene...so I was able to show more detail and this pic has less sketchy lines. but i did fall short of showing layering.

I thought that this was the better of the four...even though i did not layer...i thought the overrall appearance and the way i captured the people in the staggering line was good.

Hot Wh33Ls

The assignment was to draw a bike and the surrounding environment only doing a contour. So with that I attempted to draw the bike and surrounding environment without much detail. I think it came out pretty good. One part of the picture that i forgot to draw was the other half of the bench on the right side...but hopefully its not that noticeable...So here is my drawing..HOT WHEELS...let me know what you think.

Contour Drawing...Back to the basics

this is part one of this assignment...i was to draw a landscape around and school and i drew the alumni house... part two will be a redrawn version of what u are about to see...i dont think this is my best work but hopefully part two will look way better

this would be part 2 off the assignment...after talking to one of my teachers he gave the advice not to use detail...this was hard for me especially since i see detail as making the picture complete...but i tried it his way and to be honest i think it turned out better...don't tell him i said that...lol...but take a look and tell me what you think

blind contour...man vision is a God send

okay so this was the assignment...to do a blind contour...and for those that dont quite know what that is you are to draw an object without looking at the paper...what!!!! i've done these before in high school and i always gave the same reaction and to have to put them on a blog was just disrespectful...not really but my way of saying how embarrassing to put up a picture that you know looks interesting to say the least...but here it goes...its okay to laugh and to help you understand what its supposed to be its supposed to be a hand and thumb...

random drawings

well i thought i post some more drawings for u to view...nothing to special those are coming later but still tell me what you think
so obviously this is a chair...like the next few items the goal was to draw picture not thinking of it as an object but as shapes that make up and object so this was attempt number 1...didnt turn out to bad but if we i could have just drawn the picture without the extra pressure of realizing every shape it would have come out a whole lot better.
