The design world has come a long way thanks to the constant progression of the computer. Without the computer, occupations such as architecture, interior design, and engineering would still be using some of the same time consuming practices that our predecessors used. But realizing how much we rely on computers in our field raises the question of what will the future hold?
The use of the computer in the design world brings both positives and negatives. The positives of having computers to figure out the complexities of our design are that it opens the door for more creativity. With the steady progression of computers, out design creativity has very few limits. Some of the negatives of using computers so heavily are that we as designers loose the basic hand skills once used in drafting and designing. We become mentally handicapped because we no longer can calculate certain measurements and dimensions on our own.
